Ecosy Vista 500 Installation: Precision and Expertise in Action
The installation of the Ecosy Vista 500, a robust 5KW wood burning stove, was a meticulous process, showcasing our technical proficiency and attention to detail. The project commenced with cutting slate to size, fitting it in the centre of the exterior wall, and building the flue system up to the ceiling. We marked the ceiling for cutting, drilled pilot holes through the ceiling and roof, and carefully checked the position of the timbers to avoid any structural issues.
One of the primary challenges was navigating the roof structure without compromising its integrity. We addressed this by employing two 45° bends in the flue system to circumvent the timbers. This step was crucial in ensuring a safe and secure installation.
Step-By-Step Stove Install Process
- Slate Preparation and Initial Setup:
- Cut slate to size and fit in the centre of the exterior wall.
- Flue System Construction:
- Build flue system up to the ceiling.
- Mark ceiling for cutting hole, drill pilot hole through ceiling and roof.
- Check position of timbers in roof to avoid cutting them.
- Cut hole in ceiling and roof, fold back roof membrane and insulation.
- Adapting and Assembling the Flue:
- Start with a flat adaptor, then use an adjustable twin wall pipe.
- Add a 500mm twin wall and two 45° bends to avoid roof timbers.
- Secure a metre length to the roof with a support bracket.
- Roof Integration and Sealing:
- Slide flashing down onto the roof, secure with stitching screws.
- Seal around flashing with black CT1 sealant.
- Add another metre of flue, fit the storm collar and anti-downdraft cowl.
- Interior Finish and Safety Checks:
- Inside the conservatory, fit the trim plate around the flue.
- Install CO alarm and data plate.
- Test and check fire and flue, light a small fire to demonstrate basic use to the customer.
Overcoming Installation Challenges
The primary challenge during this installation was ensuring the flue system bypassed the roof timbers without compromising structural integrity. Our solution involved using two 45° bends, a meticulous approach that highlights our problem-solving skills and commitment to precision. Ensuring a seamless integration of the Twin Wall flue system into the roof structure was paramount, requiring careful measurement and expert craftsmanship.
