Step-By-Step Stove Install Process

Day 1: Unveiling the Hidden Fireplace

Our journey began with the careful removal of the existing sandstone hearth and the open fire grate. To our surprise, we discovered the original fireplace had been bricked and blocked closed. The challenge here was to restore the fireplace to its former glory, so we set to work opening up the fireplace back to its original size and shape. This meticulous process involved careful demolition and precise measurements to ensure the new stove would fit perfectly.

Day 2: Crafting the Perfect Hearth and Flue

The second day focused on constructing the foundation for the new stove. We measured, cut, and laid a 30mm slate hearth, providing a robust and aesthetically pleasing base for the MiFire Tinderbox Large. The next step involved dropping the Miflue 316 liner, attaching it securely to a pot hanging cowl that was then placed on and fastened to the chimney pot. At the bottom of this liner, we attached a twist-fit adapter to the vitreous pipe, seamlessly connecting it to the stove.

To ensure the longevity and efficiency of the installation, we fitted a registration board to prevent falling debris and reflect heat back into the room. The final touches included cleaning and polishing the slate with slate oil, fitting a CO alarm, and rigorously testing and commissioning the stove to confirm it was working perfectly.

One of the significant challenges we encountered was the blocked and bricked-up original fireplace. Restoring it required careful demolition and adherence to safety protocols to prevent any damage to the surrounding structure. Additionally, fitting the flue liner involved precise measurements and secure fittings to ensure optimal performance and safety. These tasks were expertly handled by our team, showcasing our commitment to quality and attention to detail.
