For this Sketty installation project, our installation team tackled a number of specific tasks to ensure both safety and optimal performance. We began by dropping a new 316-grade Miflue liner down the existing chimney, designed to handle the high temperatures and prevent corrosion, ensuring long-term durability.

The flue was connected at the top with a chimney pot and a pot-hanging cowl, essential for efficient smoke and fume extraction.

We also used a bolt-on adapter to secure the liner to the vitreous enamel pipe, leading directly into the Stove Buddy 4.

To maintain safety and energy efficiency, we sealed the system with an A1-rated fireboard at the chimney breast. This solution provides excellent fire protection and ensures no leaks or drafts.

Challenges Encountered and Solutions Implemented

As with any installation, we faced several challenges, the most notable being the alignment of the new flue liner with the existing chimney structure.

The semi-detached property had a narrow chimney breast, which required precise measurements and expert handling to ensure the liner fit securely without causing damage to the structure.

Additionally, Sketty’s coastal climate meant we needed to account for potential moisture build-up in the flue.

By selecting the high-grade 316 liner, we ensured that the system would withstand the weather’s corrosive effects.
