Dovre 700 Installation: Precision Engineering Meets Rustic Charm
Our team at Hopkins Log Burners took on the challenge of installing a Dovre 700 wood burning stove in a wooden barn, a project that required meticulous planning and execution. The Dovre 700, known for its robust 10KW output, was the perfect choice for this spacious, rustic setting.
Preparing the Hearth: A Foundation of Safety and Style
We began by carefully positioning two 1200mm slates as per the customer’s instructions. One slate served as the hearth, providing a sturdy and heat-resistant base for the stove. The other was strategically placed behind the fire, offering both protection and a stylish backdrop. This initial step not only ensured safety but also added a touch of natural elegance to the installation.
Precision Cutting: Creating the Perfect Flue Exit
With the hearth in place, we positioned the fire and meticulously marked the wall for the flue exit. Our experienced stove engineers then cut through the internal ply wall with surgical precision.
We drilled pilot holes at a 45° angle and marked the exterior hole, ensuring perfect alignment. Using a multi-tool, we cut through the marked area and carefully cleaned up the edges, creating a seamless passage for the flue.
Flue Installation: The Backbone of Efficient Burning
The flue system is crucial for any wood burner installation, and this project was no exception. We fitted the starter length of flue and a 45° bend, perfectly aligning it with the wall hole. The adjustable twin wall flue was then installed, providing flexibility and ensuring optimal draw.
On the exterior, we measured and marked the wall for the lower bracket, drilling and securing it firmly. Trim plates were fitted both inside and out, adding a polished finish to the installation. We then built the twin wall flue to the required height, securing it with two additional wall brackets for stability.
Finishing Touches: Ensuring Safety and Efficiency
To complete the installation, we fitted an anti-downdraft cowl on top of the flue, preventing backdrafts and ensuring efficient operation. We conducted thorough smoke and pressure tests on the fire, guaranteeing its safe and effective performance. A CO alarm was installed, and we affixed the data plate, providing essential safety information.
Customer Satisfaction: The Heart of Our Service
After the installation was complete, we took the time to show the customer the basic usage of their new Dovre 700 wood burning stove. Their satisfaction was evident as they admired the seamless integration of this powerful heating solution into their wooden barn.
The client’s reaction was overwhelmingly positive. They commented, “We’re thrilled with our new Dovre 700. The installation process was smooth and professional, and the stove fits perfectly in our barn. It’s not just a heat source; it’s become a beautiful focal point of our living space.
